October 22, 2020 – Will be temporarily closed for a few weeks for a staff break.

2020 Update: Socially distanced indoor dining with reservations and first come first served patio dining. Weds-Mon (closed Tuesday), 11am-9pm.

Barringer’s puts their own spin on the traditional Wisconsin Supper Club and Steak House (Fried Chicken Thursdays and Sundays, for example), and it doesn’t disappoint. This is one of our favorite spots for a nice glass of wine and a nibble.

BEST FOR: When you haven’t made reservations but you still want a beautiful evening.  We always seem to find a spot somewhere in the bar area – where there’s full meal service.

Housed in a unique historic structure built in 1910 by the Barringer family, it was first the Maple Tree Cafe, an ice cream and dessert parlor.  Today it’s part of the Chives family of restaurants (famously, Aaron Rodgers’ favorite, see the next listing for more about Chives) and the food is as excellent as you’d expect.  They have their own baker, so breads, buns and rolls are all homemade in house, from scratch daily. There’s an indoor/outdoor bar and alfresco dining with a fireplace. We prefer to enjoy our meals at the bar, the bar tables or outside – it’s a casual, relaxed and superb fine dining experience.

INSIDER TIP #1: Order the truffle fries!  (You’ll thank us.) A generous serving that’s perfect for a light “meal” with a glass of something special at the bar.

INSIDER TIP #2: If you’re feeling social, the bar has a very friendly vibe and is a great place to strike up a conversation.

INSIDER TIP #3: Try the generous half pour glass of wine if you’re interested in sampling a variety of their wines by the glass – they always have something interesting for the wine aficionado. (Their in-house Certified Sommelier ensures quality options.)
