Park Like

143 feet of private bluff dotted with seating areas and a screened gazebo with napping, dining and rocking areas.

A little piece of heaven on earth - a place where you'll feel instantly at home and won't want to leave.

Grab a glass, mug or carafe of something tasty and toast to the ever changing glory of Door County sunsets. After the sun goes down, grab a blanket and watch the stars come out, twinkling with their northern skies ferocity.

It's hard to be inside when the views in the backyard are so compelling! We've set up the yard to enjoy it throughout the day. The Gazebo views are great for dining and then napping on the daybed. The teak bench is terrific in the morning when the sun warms your shoulders. The Adirondack chairs provide a place to put up your feet for most of the afternoon. The granny wicker chairs are in the shade late day. And there's always a great spot for a game of bocce/boules.

We'll admit the real draws of Egg Cottage are its "downtown" village location and it's stunning views, but sooner or later you need to go inside. We've done everything we can to make our little 1898 pioneer home as modern and comfortable as possible, but you'll still enjoy the creak of its floors and the nostalgic sound of an old screen door slamming shut.

Ditch the car: After morning coffee in the gazebo watching sailboats drift by, walk across the street and have some cherry pancakes at one of Door County's best breakfast spots. Then hit Egg Harbor's beautiful sand beach, rent some kayaks and explore the coast, stock up on wine at the Main Street Market, toss something tasty on the grill and dine in the gazebo as the sun sets.

The screened gazebo is our favorite place to have morning coffee and evening sunset meals. And indulging in a nap outside on the daybed in late afternoon is about as good as it gets.

Full Disclosure

Egg Cottage was built in 1898 - over 120 years ago. She's no spring chicken, she creaks sometimes, and has character that no amount of updating can erase (nor would we want to!) We love the little reminders of the past and the years of memories we share this home with, but the quirks, well, there are a few: The old screen door makes a gorgeous old-fashioned slamming noise - we could muffle it, but we like it. The upstairs floors will creak and the stairs to the second floor are original - steep and uniquely spaced. Those with mobility issues may struggle to climb them. The living room fireplace is decorative only (non-functioning). It is lit with electric timed candles that go on and off automatically, providing a warm glow.

Adults 21+

Egg Cottage is very much an adult retreat and we are not able to host children. Guests must be at least twenty-one years old.

100% No Smoking

Breathe that fresh Door County air! We are a 100% smoke-free property, including all outdoor areas.

No Pets

Pets are not allowed inside the cottage or on the grounds, including all outdoor spaces.

And if it rains? Lucky you! Watch storms move in over the bay and toast to the rain gods in the refuge of the screened gazebo.
